Does your teenager want to go vegan? Been there. The stress is real!

I have created a short course (<60min) to show you (both) how to do it in a safe way.

My teenager went Vegan... and it was the best thing that ever happened to me.

I found that supporting my teen’s vegan journey, no matter if she stuck with it or not, showed that I listened—and that made her more likely to come to me when it mattered most.

So what did I do? Well, I of course went to google but I couldn't find any succinct guide on how to do it. So I went back to university, met with dietitians, and then wrote it myself. Certified Practicing Dietitian approved.

What I didn't expect was that this one thing created a safe topic to talk about with each other.

I want to help others, so:

a) you don't have to navigate your way through the theory, media and playground nutritionists and

b) you too get to put a smile on your teenager's face.

Eating a vegan diet is way more than substituting animal products for plants.

We get a lot of advice about how good or bad a vegan diet is for our health. Some of it coming from the media, and lots coming from well-meaning people in our circle. So, I thought I'd investigate more, thinking that I would find out that it isn't a healthy choice and that would be that.

Well. Turns out it is OK to go vegan at any age as long as it is done the right way.

What can you do?

Show you are listening... and even if you don't agree, show them that you respect their choices... You can support them, as long as they are prepared to a) do it themselves (you have enough to do) and

b) do it properly.

Challenge them to prepare the dishes in the Free Menu below - if they can do this, then they can do this :)

What will happen then?

Well, it depends. One of two things I reckon:

1. They might decide that they aren't quite willing to eat tofu and beans yet. Our relationship (yours and mine I mean) might end here. Regardless, they will remember that you had their back. I wonder what the next thing is that they will come to you with?

2. They might decide they are willing to eat tofu and beans. Okey dokey. Been there. Time to redo the pantry. I can help you. Come see what we eat - my teenager and I. My daughter has removed her socials, so I can safely talk about her on mine :)

How to make sure they are a nourished vegan:

Eating a plant-based diet is way more than just removing animal products from your diet and eating the rainbow.

Bottom line, they have to

a) eat a wide variety of foods and

b) eat enough to be able to get enough of all the nutrients they need.

If you are at all worried, like I was, I can help.

Someone you know needs to know this.

It might be your child, nephew, grandchild, cousin, neighbour, friend's child, basketball/football buddy etc

Be their champion.

But wait.... there's more....

The book

I wrote the book I needed when my teenager went vegan.

Our kids want to be the change they want to see in the world.

Let's help them.
